October Nature Walk: Inspired by Goldsworthy Again
October 7, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
One of our most well-loved walks last year was our Inspired by Goldsworthy walk, where we created nature-based temporary artworks in the woods.
Andy Goldsworthy is a British sculptor and photographer whose work has delighted and inspired people worldwide. He creates works that are temporary, out of leaves, stones, ice, and similar materials. You can read more about him in many places online and buy his incredible books on Amazon, among other places. He called his first book “A Collaboration with Nature”, which describes how he works.
You can see what we created last year.
This event is good for children of all ages, though there is a bit of walking involved, so it might be too much for toddlers.
- Only use materials you find lying on the forest floor; no cutting down trees
- People may work on their own or form teams
- People can choose just to watch
- We will photograph the results and post them on this site
We will meet at the parking lot by the playing field at roughly 26 Blanchard Road.
Sadly, there will still be ticks in October, so precautions are needed: wear light colors, tuck pants into socks, use bug spray.
